1-naphthylacetic acid is a broad-spectrum plant growth regulator. It can be used to increase effective tillering of wheat and rice, increase the rate of panicle formation, promote fullness of grain, and increase yield significantly. It is also used to increase yield of sweet potatoes and cotton. It is used in eggplants and melons to prevent falling flowers and seeds and to form seedless fruits. It can also increase the plant's resistance to drought, floods, salinity, and lodging.
