Chitosan for Organic Farming

Currently the Chitosan is popular for organic farming.

Chitosan is a compound naturally found in crustacean shells and fungal cell walls, and can be very beneficial to plant production and growth.

Chitosan enhances plant survival and yield in times of heat or cold stress and drought.

When foliar-applied to crops it allows the plants to grow with less water.

Exogenous application of Chitosan has also been shown to accelerate growth and germination as well as improve the quality of flowers and fruit.

The main role of chitosan on crops:

1) Induce plant self-defense response and produce broad-spectrum resistant substances;

2) Inhibit and kill plant pathogens and pests and diseases, and have a certain repelling effect on nematodes, aphids and red spiders;

3) Promote root growth, activate rhizosphere state, and thicken joints;

4) It has obvious fertilizer efficiency, robust plants, enhanced photosynthesis, and improved crop yield;

5) Improve the soil

Q: How to dissolve Chitosan?

A: Dissolve Chitosan with Acid solution pH=4.5~5.0 (Hydrochloric acid or acetic acid or lactic acid or citric acid)+ 99% purified water.

(Some customers said when dissolve chitosan, it produces mucus which clogs the nozzles, it is because Chitosan has strong adsorption of impurities, it will flocculate impurities in tap water, so dissolve water needs be purified water instead of tap water).

Q: How to use Chitosan for agricultural field?

A: Chitosan can be used for seed soaking, coating agent, bacteriostatic agent, foliar plant promoter and soil conditioner.
